There is considerable hostility, in modern times, to dogmatic religion when considered as a body of truths defined by the Church, and still more when considered as defined by the pope. The theory of dogma which is here expounded depends for its acceptance on the doctrine of the infallible teaching office of the Church and of the Roman pontiff.
Star Trek IV: A Voyage Home

This is the only movie of star trek that i remember watching from before. I guess this is also my favourite. First because the graphics finally look more realistic and not so well tacky or dumb-nerdy (non-coherent word huh).

Anyway this is better, seeing all the federation allies in a room, then seeing Sarek come in, then seeing spock, then seeing this enormous elongated marble thing, then seeing earth battered by a storm, then whales that were part of a previously unkonwn sentient species, only thing is most of the things that make me like the movie are things that make me like Star Wars. Hahaha, it seems Star Wars was lucky to get all the nice things right first.

Anyway its always cool to have a president talking over an emergency channel thats distorted... hahaha something like the Galactic Emperor issuing some edict haha.

Anyway this gets the highest so far... 4.3/5 stars.

P.S. pardon the super ultra tacky poster, imagine this is 1986, and then now comapre it to the s...

I liked this movie a lot, mainly because I didn't have to endure much of Kirk's arrogance. And it was helluva more exciting then the prequel. But still this Genesis thing is so flawed, being a concept from the supposedly realistically pathed future star trek is placed, it seems

Sony Ericsson W800i

I have had this phone for four years already. I got it free as part of the Globe Platinum award. It was the first phone with Sony Walkman integrated into the unit.

I have brought it everywhere, and in every imaginable condition. It is so durable. There are times I really didn't care about it, throwing it here, or pressing the buttons like som angry maniac.

And only now going on its fifth year in a couple of months has it shown problems with its keyboards and other buttons. For something that cost PHP 28,500.00 on its initial debut, it is worth every single centavo.

I am reluctant to let it go, maybe I will have it repaired and keep using it till maybe I donate it to a cousin or maybe my mom? My only problem is its camera is only 2 mp and nowadays thats not enough.

But still for four plus years it's been such a great phone.

5/5 stars

Apple iPod Touch 8GB

There are two reasons why this product does not get 4 out of 5 stars - and no this product does not qualify for 5 stars, the price just makes it 4 stars.

These are what I don't like about it:

(1) Apple charges you for software updates - like the product itself isn't expensive enough, they expect you to pay to continually improve on their product. Other companies provide software updates for free, actually its already a normal expected thing - Apple thinks they are too elitist to offer anything free.

(2) Not yet into its first year and the battery life has a pronounced deterioration already. Lo-and-behold only apple can replace the battery and at an exorbitant cost - HALF the price of the original unit!!

(3) The included headphones, although its the standard one they package in most of their music products, can be hailed for its better than expected sound-generation quality BUT the durability gets a ZERO. Not yet into 6 months and...

It is so boring. 23rd century and they still use gear sticks and handles with buttons like in F16 to shoot torpedoes, or all these other silly things. Plus a very poor storyline. Yawn.

Note: too bad Spock has to die in this awful, awful movie. Good thing they show that he might actually survive.... in this jungle, maybe there are ewoks there to help

Angels & Demons (2009)

I watched with my two friends, Ae and Schidz.

All I remember from the movie is how beautiful Rome and the Vatican is, and how all this culture is intertwined by the Pope.

Everything else is rubbish (wrong historical facts, anachronistic placing of events, etc., etc.), my opinion strengthened by this review:

http://www.politicsdaily.com/2009/05/15/angels-demons-and-why-dan-brown-needs-the-catholic-church/

"Harvard professor Robert Langdon (played by Tom Hanks) spouts an endless stream of errors about art, history and Catholicism, reminiscent of the opening monologue in "Conspiracy Theory." Thus viewers are treated to stories of the fictitious castration of statues by Pius IX, the anachronistic placement of the Illuminati in 1600 and the elevation of the Pantheon to the honor of being the first Christian church, all delivered with studied seriousness. If anyone should be protesting this film it should be Harvard University. If its professors so egregiously misrepresented hist...

Things I need to buy to upgrade my computer

I need several things because lately I have been discontent with my computer. In the meantime, here is phase one of the upgrade:
All prices are based on Promo Price list of PCX (April 19, 2009).

Memory. I have a 64 bit OS but I'm not taking advantage of it. I need at least 4GB memory so I can take advantage of the memory address extensions. So I need 2 x Kingston 1GB 667 DDR2 at PHP 750 each = PHP 1,500.00
Hard Disk. I have 640 GB installed capacity, and it's just too small! I archive all the photos of the family, plus my horrendously large music collection... then there are the tv series I have - all for my PS3 or windows media center to access from the living room. It just doesn't fit anymore! It actually got cheaper, I need 1 x Seagate 500GB Barracuda SATA = PHP 2950.00
LCD Monitor. Ever since I bought my PS3/RB instead of my LCD Monitor, it's been great at the living room but terrible in my room! I need to reclaim my desk space! and my eyes ...

Well He should. Because his reason to lift the embryonic stem-cell policy change is being viewed in such a way as to "create life for the purpose of spare parts."

read it here: (source here)

CURRENT ISSUE
Columnists Books Screen Editorials Classifieds SEARCH
COMMONWEAL

Advanced Search Browse past issues March 27, 2009 / Volume CXXXVI, Number 6 EDITORIAL Life & Science

The Editors

No one was shocked when President Barack Obama lifted the restrictions on federal funding for embryonic stem-cell research put in place by George W. Bush. Obama was, after all, fulfilling a campaign promise-albeit a misguided one—and his decision enjoys strong bipartisan support. What did surprise, however, was Obama’s explanation for this policy.

The president’s executive order authorizes the Department of Health and Human Services and the National Institutes of Health (NIH) to fund and conduct embryonic stem-cell research that entails the destruction of human embryos, someth...

Here goes this article I agree with:

The Pope is right, condoms are aiding AIDS

Guest Writers
Written by Martyn Drakard
Thursday, 26 March 2009 12:12
On the first leg of Benedict XVI’s first trip to Africa as Pope, a French journalist not surprisingly asked him about the African AIDS epidemic.

In the minds of most people from the West, among such things as corruption, child soldiers, famine and witchcraft, Africa = Aids, and AIDS = condoms. He replied: “The scourge cannot be resolved by distributing condoms; quite the contrary, we risk worsening the problem.” His brief answer provoked an international controversy and violent reactions in the Western press.
“Impeach the Pope!” wrote the Washington Post. “The Pope is a disaster” reported the Daily Telegraph. The Seattle Times accused the Pope of living in an “alternate universe”. “Grievously wrong!” said the New York Times. “There is no evidence that condom use is aggravating ...

Fasting for Lent

Did you guys know that according to Canon 1253:

"On days of fasting, one eats only one full meal, but may eat two smaller meals as necessary to keep up one's strength. The two small meals together must sum to less than the one full meal. Parallel to the fasting laws are the laws of abstinence. These bind those over the age of fourteen. On days of abstinence, the person must not eat meat or poultry. According to canon law, all Fridays of the year, Ash Wednesday and several other days are days of abstinence, though in most countries, the strict requirements of abstinence have been limited by the bishops (in accordance with Canon 1253) to the Fridays of Lent and Ash Wednesday. On other abstinence days, the faithful are invited to perform some other act of penance."

So guys only one full meal and two collations :)

from: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lent
